Conventional, Versus Alternative Health Care

In the United States of America, our medical system, and the health – care orientation, focuses on what is often referred to, as conventional medicine, while the majority of the rest of the world, prioritizes wellness, and balancing, so – called, alternative medicine, with conventional ones. The essential difference is, what we use, focuses on treating symptoms, often, rather than causes, while, the other approach, emphasizes, holistic approaches, treatments, and remedies. Some of these alternatives include: homeopathic; herbal; other alternatives; acupuncture, etc. With that in mind, this article will attempt to briefly examine, consider, and discuss, the differences, advantages, and how, we might use these together, for the most benefit.

1. Conventional medicine: This approach depends upon, prioritizing, using medicines, treatments, etc, which are chemical/ drug – based. For example, the common aspirin, was originally derived from white willow bark, and the active ingredient is salicylic acid. Using medicines for treating the common cold, merely reduces the symptoms, but does not address, strengthening our immune system, to reduce recurring cases. While there are many instances, where conventional medicine is needed, necessary, and preferential, as in treating, extreme cases of mental health, stress, depression, etc, and life – threatening situations, such as cancer treatments, etc, wouldn’t we be, better served, if this approach, was the secondary, rather than immediate approach?

2. Homeopathic: Homeopathy is based on, using tiny amounts of a problem, such as, for example, we do, when we vaccinate, to treat, and address the causes, rather than, merely the symptoms. In most of the rest of the world, we treat, first, using homeopathic remedies, and, only, in severe cases, do we use chemically – based, medications.

3. Acupuncture: Acupuncture has been effectively used, throughout the world, for centuries. I have, personally, had wonderful experiences, treating pain, inflammation, etc, and there are no contra – indications, or undesirable, side – effects.

4. Wellness: Using a combination of conventional, and alternative approaches, makes the most common sense! Begin, with using non – invasive, immune – enhancing/ building approaches, so as to avoid unwanted side effects, etc. If we don’t get the results we seek, the regular approach, should be used. However, this does not mean, using, pie – in – the – sky, untested approaches, or using them, improperly, etc. For example, treat any potentially, life – threatening issues, with the necessary regimen, as early as possible, because, often, timely response is necessary, to avoid future issues.

The more, we learn, about health, options, and alternatives, as well as paying attention to preventative methods, etc, the healthier, we might be. Wise use of a combination, in a wellness program, often makes, a world of difference!
